Printing Press Machine Application Sheet

 

          In printing machines, when rolled plastic film is started to be unwrapped, machine begins to be charged with static and with the fractions of film on the rollers are added, occurance of high static charges on the film can be seen.
It should be considered that static charge on the surface can cause film to slide left or right on line, static electric attracted dust particles to stick on surface, decrease the quality of printing,operator to be electrically shocked,machines electronic hardware to be harmed and most importantly paint to catch fire and explode in which static charge shocks are near the printing zone. 

        PULS Electronic Anti static bars will ensure film to reach printing cylinders clean and purified from static electric, if they are applied on the untying units output bidirectionally as seen in the picture.Two anti static bars which is placed on wrapping units input will prevent problems that occurs in input region because of static charge.

Parison Machine Application Sheet



        As the parisons are extruded from the machine they will start to cool. As they cool, the molecules inside the polymer will rub against each other and a static charge will be generated. As the charge increase, the parisons will start to repel from each other as they will all have the same charge due to identical manufacturing process and material make up. This will cause damage to the part
        By positioning a PULS Electronic ionising bar across the parisons, you will neutralise the charge as the parts cool. This will prevent damage to the parisons, reduce waste and down time while increasing productivity and profits.

Extrusion Line Application Sheet


        As the sheet exits the extruder head, it will start to generate a static charge as it cools. This is caused as the molecules rub against each other. As the charge increases, the electro-magnetic field will increase attracting airborne contamination onto the product.

       The electro-magnetic field can also be absorbed into the bodies of operators working in close proximity to the extruder. The operator will then discharge (sometimes quite violently) when coming into contact with an earth potential such as a door handle, machine casing and another operator. Although the shock is painful but not life threatening, the involuntary reaction of the shock can be serious when the operator is working in close contact with working or moving machinery.

        If you are using a chill roller to aid in the cooling of the product, a generator and charging head can be used to pin the edge of the sheet to the chill roller to prevent web wander.

Blown Film Line Application Sheet


        Static charges build up as the blown film cools. The charge increases as the web travels across rollers to the wind up. This causes a large electro-magnetic field which attracts airborne contamination onto the film and also operators working in close proximity to the area can absorb these charges and then discharge when coming into contact with an earth potential such as a machine casing, another operator or even a door handle. Although the shock can be slightly painful (dependant on voltage size) it is usually harmless. Problems do occur though, through the involuntary reaction to the shock especially when working with moving machinery.

        By positioning a PULS Electronic Ionising air blower under the wind-up, you will bathe the roll in ionised air. This will remove the static charge; eliminate the possibility of contamination attraction and operator shocks.

Vacuum Forming Machine Application Sheet


       After forming, the plastic will cool causing the molecules to rub against each other generating a static charge. This charge will attract contamination form the air and surrounding area. The charge can also be absorbed ?nto the bodies of operators who work in the proximity of the mach?ne. The operators will discharge (often violently) when they come ?nto contact with ether an earth potential such as a mach?ne or door handle or by touching another operator. Although the shock itself can be painful, it is not dangerous. The involuntary reaction from the shock however, can be extremely dangerous if the operator is working closely with moving machinery.
        By using either a PULS Electronic air boost bar or blower to bathe the parts in ionised air, you will remove the static charge and eliminate the possibility of contamination attraction as well as operators shocks.

Injection Mould Machine Application Sheet


        The problems associated with injection moulding machines are in two areas, the tool face and collection bucket or conveyor line. When small parts are ejected from the tool face they can be attracted to the tool face (earth potential) as they fall away. This can cause damage to the tool, rejects, down time and a loss of productivity.

        When the parts fall into a collection bucket or container, they will start to cool and static will be generated. This charge, although small on each ?nd?v?dual part will create a very large electro-magnetic field as more and more parts enter the collection area. This will lead to contamination being attracted into the container as well as operators in the area will absorb the charge into their bodes and discharge (often very violently) when the come into contact with an earth potential (mach?ne, door handle or another operator). The shock received by an operator is not dangerous, but the involuntary reaction to the shock can be very serous if working in close proximity to working machines. When parts fall onto a moving conveyor, the static charge will attract contamination from the air and this will become bonded to the part. This can cause quality issues if the part has to be painted or is used as a food or pharmaceutical container.
        Tool face 
        By positioning a PULS Electronic air boost bar across the top of the tool face, you can blow a blade of ionised air down across the face when the tool opens. This will remove any statically attracted products or particles and ensure that the tool face remains clean. To reduce the amount of compressed air used, PULS Electronic recommend that you f?r a solenoid and relay valve that will only blow the ionised air across the tool face as the tool opens. 
        Collection container 
By positioning a PULS Electronic ionizing air blower that will blow ionised air ?nto the container as the parts fall from the tool face, you will, Prevent large static charges from building up, remove the electro-magnetic field and eliminate the possibility of contamination being attracted onto the product. 
        Conveyor belt 
        By positioning a PULS Electronic ionizing blower across the conveyor belt you will aid in the cooling of the part, remove any static charge on the part and eliminate the possibility of contamination being attracted to the part. In all cases the removal of the static charge will protect the safety of operators who work within the electro-magnetic field generated.

In mould labelling Application Sheet


       During in-mold labelling applications, the label can be attracted or repelled from the surface of the mould dependant on what charge is on either surface. The robot arm w?ll pick the label and position the label. 

       If the label is the same polarity as the surface of the mould, the label will be repelled from the mould and rejected. If the label is of the same polarity, the label can be attracted from the robot arm and misaligned. 

        By neutralising the mould pr?or to the label being applied you will have a neutral surface to position your label onto. Then using a PULS Electronic generator and charging head (fitted to the robot arm) you can use the static charge to stick the label into position.

Automated Sleeving Machines Application Sheet


       On automated sleeving machines, the problems arise as the sleeve is opened for fitting to the bottle. As the sleeve is opened, the two surfaces are separated and electrons migrate from one surface to another. As the material is Non conductive, it cannot re-address the imbalance and retains the static charge. 

       The charged labels will now become attracted to an earth potential or a charge of the opposite polarity. If the bottle the label is being fitted to is of the same polarity, the label will repel and jam causing waste and rejects. If the bottle is of the opposite polarity, the label will be attracted to bottle too quickly and the syncronisation will be out, causing jams, down time and waste.
        By neutralising the bottles pr?or to the label being fitted, you will eliminate the chance of material m?sbehav?or and miss aligning. This w?ll reduce waste and rejects and ?ncrease volume, productivity and profits.

Vertical Form Filling Machine Application Sheet


        Static charges are generated as the material is un-wound from the reel. These charges increase as the web passes over rollers and into the forming area. The static charge will create an electro magnetic field which attracts airborne contamination onto the web. This can be a catastrophic problem in food packaging sector.
        By positioning two PULSElectronic ionizing bars (one either side of the web) after the un-wind, you will remove the static charge and eliminate the possibility of contamination being attracted to the material. 

        Dependant on the length of run from the un-wind to the forming area and the product you are filling in the formed bags (Dusty or powdery products can be worst effected), you may need to position a further two ionisers (one either side of the web) to prevent the product sticking to the inside of the formed bag and cause rejects at the thermo welding process.

Shrink Wrap Machine Application Sheet


        Large static charges on shrink wrap machines are generated as the material un-winds from the reel. These charges ?ncrease as the web passes over rollers. The charged material will then become attracted to earth potentials such as grounded rollers or and metallic part of the mach?ne which is earthed. This is called material m?sbehav??or.
        By positioning a PULSElectronic ionizing bar across the web pr?or to the wrapping process, you will neutralise the charge, prevent material m?sbehav?or. Increase volume productivity and profits while reducing down time and waste.

Over Wrapper Packaging Machine Application Sheet


On an over wrapping machine, the film is charged as it un-winds from the reel. Ths charge will attract airborne contamination onto the material which results in rejects and loss of revenue. The static charge can also jam the machine as the charge becomes so high that it attracts to the machine rollers which act as an earth potential.

Thermo-Forming Machine Application Sheet


During the thermo forming process, the polymer is heated to form the product. As the product exits the mould, the material will cool causing the molecules to rub against each other which generates the static charge.

This static charge creates an electro magnetic field which in turn will attract airborne contamination onto the product. This will lead to rejects and loss of productivity.

By positioning a PULSElectronic Ionising air blower across the conveyor or exit area of the thermo-former, you will bathe the formed product in ionised air. Converting Machine Application Sheet


On converting machines as the web is unwound from the reel, large static charges are generated due to surface electrons migrating from one surface to another at the point of separation from the roll. As the web moves across the rollers, the static charge will increase. As the web is under tension at this time, it will not effect the manufacturing process. When the material is slit, the static charge will increase. As the material is re-wound, the static charges will cause the layers to repel and prevent a record edge finish.

If By positioning a PULSElectronic ionising system prior to the re-wind, you will remove the static charge enabling the re-wind process to work giving a roll of finsished goods with NO static charge and a record edge finish.

Flat Bag Making Machine Application Sheet


On Flat Bag making machines as the plastic is unwound from the reel, large static charges are generated due to surface electrons migrating from one surface to another at the point of separation from the roll. As the web moves across the rollers, the static charge will increase. As the web is under tension at this time, it will not effect the manufacturing process. When the material is cut for collating in the stacking area. The surface charges on the material will cause the stack to misalign resulting in problems in packing, waste material and down time.Static charge on surface will lead to disorder of stacks, slowing down of production line and increasing of junk products in addition to loss of time and money, thus this is an undesired situation.
